Dental Sealants

Back to Children’s Dentistry

Sanders-Loe-SealantsDental sealants are an excellent tool to use in the prevention of tooth decay with young children. Dental sealants are put on teeth, specifically molars having significant crevices which is where bacteria can accumulate and lead to cavities. The sealant fills in the crevices building a barrier to shield the tooth surface.

If the usage of sealants are accompanied by a dental health strategy which includes regular dental examinations and teeth cleanings, fluoride, nutritious diet and good at-home oral hygiene, we could dramatically lower and/or stop the volume of cavities experienced by children.
